We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Engineering & Reliability team based out of our Gaston, SC facility. The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Integrity Inspector role, results driven, motivated by technical challenges and have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. The primary responsibility of this position is to plan, direct, evaluate, and document the safety and integrity of pressure vessels, tanks, and piping systems in accordance with regulatory and code requirements. The Mechanical Integrity Inspector is also responsible for monitoring new fabrication and repairs/alterations to pressure equipment.
Responsibilities
The Mechanical Integrity Inspector will be reportable to the Mechanical Integrity Manager and have responsibilities for the following tasks:
- Develops and executes inspection plans for pressure vessels, piping, and tanks
- Provides quality assurance for new construction and repairs
- Interacts with NDE Technicians
- Performs NDE in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.
- Interprets inspection results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures and makes appropriate recommendations
- Prepares inspection reports, makes technically-sound recommendations, and communicates findings to appropriate parties
- Documents results of non-destructive testing and examination activities.
- Visually examines materials, structures, or components for signs of corrosion, metal fatigue, cracks, or other flaws
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications, P&IDs, and relevant industry standards (API, ASME, etc)
- Develop/review code compliant repair plans for equipment as needed.
- Assists in the training and development of others within the organization
- Participates in Root Cause Failure Analysis teams
- Provides integral input to control/reduce life cycle costs of plant equipment by increasing mechanical reliability
- Some travel may be required (10% estimated, some overnight, domestic and international)

- This will be a mid to senior level position, depending on previous experience level
- High school/GED equivalent required.
- Strong safety background
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
- Level II certification and field experience in performing PT, VT, UT thickness inspections.
- Results oriented process driven team leader with exceptional organizational skills
- API 510, 570, and 653 certifications a plus
- Certified weld inspector status (CWI) a plus
- Minimum of 3 years experience in performing API based inspections of piping, vessels or storage tanks desired.
- Must be able to lift 25-pounds, unassisted
- Bending, stretching, standing for extended periods of time, reaching, twisting, sitting, and walking
- Climbing and working off of ladders, stairs, and scaffolds
- Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends, if needed
- Working in or near industrial hazards
- Ability and desire to inspect vessel internals by means of confined space entry
