POSITION TITLE:                                 Project Engineering Leader

DUTIES:
  • As a team member of the Global Project Management Office, the Project Engineering leader will:
  • Review and implement project management processes, procedures, and best practices across the different site regions.
  • Update other projects managers and leaders on his/her projects execution status, challenges and opportunities to share best practices and lessons learn with others.
  • Provide support in the global project management organization maturity process by analyzing projects performance data that can lead into improving effectiveness in current and future projects schedule and cost.
  • Review engineering, procurement, and construction vendors’ list to ensure meeting effectiveness along the different regional projects demand and market supply trends.
  • Maintain a continuous learning and skills growth in the project management knowledge
  • Provide process technology innovation to solve operational problems and business growth opportunities by executing detail analysis of process performance data, conduct root cause analysis, and review technology innovations to develop and implement new processes to maintain excellence in plants benchmarks and business growth
  • Travel - 15-20% - in the US with occasional travel to Mexico, Canada, Brazil or Middle East, where Alpek currently has operational site facilities in the need of project leading and/or technical support

Skills & Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:  
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering AND seven (7) years as Process Engineer, or related.

Applicant must have 7 years’ experience with:
  • Petrochemical industry
  • Process Engineering and project leading - designing, engineering, and leading construction implementation of processes and systems to optimize and organically grow PET, PTA, and rPET operating facilities

Applicant must have demonstrative experience with:
  • Project management principles and methods to coordinate basic and detail engineering, construction, and implement operating processes for the PTA, PET and rPET industry
  • Supporting the Project Management Office in the implementation of best project management practices.
  • Support the technology and process engineering teams to develop engineering conceptual definitions and evaluate financial benefits to justify approval of process improvement initiatives.
  • Specifying applicable norms, standards and engineering best practices,
  • Reviewing and approving engineering documentation,
  • Plan, organize, prioritize and lead the various engineering disciplines, operations, and contractors involved to coordinate the completion of the required engineering, construction, training and start-up activities
  • Facilitating technical and administrative problem solving resolution to complete projects under the defined expectations of time, quality and budget.
  • Apply project management practices and standards to implement and monitor best practices and procedures across the organization.
