We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Polymer team. The ideal candidate for the Polymer Specialist supports day-to-day operations in the Melt Phase (MP) and Solid-State Process (SSP) and acts as a liaison between operations and maintenance to ensure plant reliability.
Responsibilities
The Polymer Specialist will be reportable to the Operations Manager and have responsibilities for the following tasks:
- Responsibilities
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement affecting site performance metrics
- Serves as a technical expert for resin manufacturing operations at the Pearl River site giving guidance to Operations Manager, Supervisors, and Chemical Technicians on day to day operational issues
- Understand the production process, outstanding equipment or process issues, and routine operations and maintenance work schedule to take ownership of problem solving.
- Act as a coordinator of plant turnarounds and shutdowns by working with other stakeholders to establish shutdown scope and minimum work required for startup.
- Review work order notifications to verify opportunity to execute, LTCT package required, and necessity of repair
- Execute and lead Root Cause Failure Analysis tools both independently and within an interdisciplinary group to resolve major polymer line incidents
- Provides continual support for supervisors especially during major activities. Communicates daily with supervisors one on one to understand operational needs. Takes ownership of equipment issues and keeps supervisors informed.
- Utilize Pi Processbook, DataPARC, and LIMS to review production line performance
- Review operations patrol and audit sheets to look for indicators of future breakdowns, failures, and process upsets
- Mentor Chemical Technicians as needed on execution of day to day work or unusual jobs
- Implement equipment or process changes that do not rise to the level of an engineered change for execution of improvement opportunities
- Coordinate field contracts with vendors, contractors, and other third parties as needed

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 5 years of experience as a Polymer Technician.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design.
- Teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measuring of training effects.
- Working knowledge skills with Microsoft Office Products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of SAP and PI
