We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Maintenance team based out of our Gaston, SC facility. The ideal candidate for the Maintenance Planner role must a self-starter, who is highly motivated and results driven. This individual will be motivated by technical challenges with excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills, as well as moderate to strong SAP/R3 knowledge and user capabilities. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the daily, weekly, and annual planning and scheduling process in the assigned area, as well as continued development of the afore mentioned process at the Columbia Site.
Responsibilities
The Maintenance Planner will be reportable to the Senior Maintenance Manager and have responsibilities for the following tasks:
- Maintenance Planning:
Develop and manage comprehensive maintenance work scopes on a daily, weekly, and annual basis. Ensure the seamless availability of resources—such as personnel, tools, and contractors—for scheduled tasks, including major shutdowns - Material Coordination:
Facilitate the procurement, organization, and expediting of maintenance materials. This includes preparing purchase requisitions, processing shipping orders, and managing vendor relations to secure repair parts and services. - SAP System Management:
Oversee the maintenance and material management systems in SAP, ensuring accurate and efficient data handling for work orders, notifications, and material requisitions. Ensure bills of materials for equipment are up-to-date and critical parts are properly recorded. - Vendor and Contractor Liaison:
Serve as the primary contact for coordinating repairs with external vendors and contractors. Ensure that repairs are conducted on schedule and within budget, while also handling the necessary safety certifications for in-plant contractor work. - Safety and Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines and internal Alpek policies. Conduct safety orientations and manage compliance documents for contractors performing on-site maintenance tasks. - Team Collaboration & Communication:
Lead and facilitate planning meetings with cross-functional teams to develop job scopes, prioritize tasks, and ensure that all stakeholders are informed. Communicate effectively across various platforms, including written, verbal, and electronic formats. - Tool and Inventory Management:
Maintain proper stock levels and organization of consumables and specialty tools within the maintenance shop. Ensure tools and equipment are readily available for ongoing and emergency maintenance tasks. - Emergency Repairs Support:
Respond swiftly to expedite materials and coordinate resources for urgent, unplanned maintenance to minimize downtime and disruptions.

- Strong maintenance/technical background
- Ability to take direction, utilize information, and execute
- Detail oriented organizational skills with ability and desire to drive change with little to no direction
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, priorities, and contingency planning
- Overall knowledge of industrial, electrical, and mechanical equipment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of PSM, OSHA guidelines, and Alpek Safety expectations
- Strong computer skills with SAP (or equivalent) and Microsoft Office
Preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in planning/scheduling in maintenance
- 3+ years’ experience SAP maintenance module
- Associate’s degree in a related technical field or significant years of experience
- Advanced skills in Project planning and preventative maintenance development
- Advanced Microsoft Suite including Project Critical Path, Macros, VLookup, and Pivot Tables
- Experience using Prometheus platform
