We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Maintenance team based from our CA - Columbia site in Gaston, SC. The ideal candidate for the Capital Material Expeditor role must be a self-starter, who is highly motivated and results driven. This individual will be motivated by technical challenges with excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills, as well as a moderate to strong background in planning, scheduling, and cost control in the industrial and/or construction industries, with moderate to strong SAP knowledge and user capabilities. 

The primary responsibility for the Capital Material Expeditor function is to coordinate and order capital materials for projects as part of our planning and scheduling process as continued development of the aforementioned ideals are executed according to plan effectively, efficiently and meet customer expectations.  The secondary and backup responsibilities of the Capital Material Expeditor is to provide guidance, coordination, and oversight for resident and non-resident contractors as needed. 

Responsibilities

The Capital Material Expeditor will be reportable to the Maintenance Manager and have responsibilities for the following tasks: 
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure we maintain accuracy and accountability for capital material inventory & parts management system
  • Oversee the management of capital inventory processes within SAP – create/ close out work orders, monitor contract labor invoices, prepare and track purchase requisitions, research and compile bill of materials, ect
  • Vendor/contractor point of contact – request and negotiate cost effective quotes, coordinate before and during install of capital material, audit full scope of contractor work and billing & ensure alignment with agreement/ project terms.
  • Develops Scopes of work and works with procurement to refine them for bidding purposes. Facilitates procurement on any walk-throughs associated with bidding contracts
  • Serve as FCC to provide safety training for non-resident contractor in-plant repairs for Maintenance. Perform safety audits & RCFAs as needed.
  • Prepare/distribute the Weekly Staff Report
  • Manage surplus material by working with procurement/vendors to inventory, group/stage surplus material for sale, and return for credit or incorporate into stores inventory
  • Compile and analyze contractor data for implementation of efficiency and execution opportunities
  • Manages backlogs and perform integrity checks daily using SAP-R3
  • Meets with Operations personnel to determine the criticality of equipment with respect to parts, repair, cost, scheduling contractor services.
  •  Facilitate receiving quotations for price and delivery of equipment or services. Active with “comparison shopping” in order to obtain the most cost-effective option

Skills & Qualifications

Required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience using SAP R/3
  • Ability to understand/interpret construction cost estimates
  • Ability to take direction, utilize information, and execute
  • Strong advocate of safe work practices
  • Strong knowledge of PSM, OSHA guidelines, and Alpek Safety expectations
  • Overall knowledge of industrial, electrical, and mechanical equipment
  • Organizational skills with ability and desire to drive change with little to no direction
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and contingency planning with strong attention to details
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
  • Advanced SAP/R3 knowledge
  • Associate’s degree in a related technical field or significant years of experience as a Project Controls Analyst / Material Expeditor
  • 10 years of experience directly related to the tasks specified above
  • Warehouse management experience
  • Maintenance Planning & Scheduling experience
  • Scopes of Work Development and negotiation experience
