We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Information Technology team based out of our Gaston, SC facility. The ideal candidate for the Alpek Polyester IT Architect position will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a results-oriented mindset, and in-depth knowledge of the technical skills required to perform the role effectively 

Responsibilities

The IT Architect will be reportable to the Cybersecurity and IT Infrastructure Director and have responsibilities for the following tasks: 
 
System Administration: 
  • Install, configure, and maintain virtual infrastructure using VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or similar platforms. 
  • Manage system updates, patches, user accounts, and security configurations. 
  • Monitor system performance and perform root cause analysis for operational issues. 
  • Maintain documentation for system builds, configurations, and procedures. 
 
Network Management: 
  • Design, configure, and manage network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, and industrial Ethernet. 
  • Maintain segmentation and secure communication between IT and OT networks. 
  • Monitor network traffic and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues. 
  • Implement and manage VPNs, VLANs, and secure remote access to industrial systems. 
 
Backup & Disaster Recovery: 
  • Develop and execute backup strategies for critical IT systems. 
  • Perform regular backups, test restores and ensure compliance with data retention policies. 
  • Maintain and test disaster recovery plans for production and control environments.  

Skills & Qualifications

Required  
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology 
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related role 
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP or similar 
  • Experience with Veeam backup & replication software 
  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications technologies, processes and services (switches, routers, LAN, WAN, IT assets, ADSL, etc.) 
  • Ability to carry out Evaluation, Design, Planning & Implementation of High-end Network and Virtual solutions with different IT vendor ranges of products. 
  • Ability to monitor system health, logs, and alerts to ensure optimal performance and uptime. 
  • Administration of Data Center components (On-premise and Cloud). 
  • Scripting or automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) are a plus. 
  • Ability to travel to our different US sites as needed. 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced, challenging, and cross-functional team environment.
