We are seeking a motivated individual to join and support our Engineering & Reliability team at our facility in Gaston, SC. The ideal candidate for the Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Technician role will be results-driven, thrive on technical challenges, and use strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to inspect and document the safety and integrity of pressure vessels, tanks, and piping systems through visual inspections and non-destructive testing methods.
Responsibilities
The Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Technician will be reportable to the Quality Control Manager. Their primary responsibilities will be accomplished through the following tasks:
- Perform NDE inspections of piping, vessels, and tanks per applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
- Interpret results from multiple NDE methods:
- Liquid penetrant
- Magnetic particle
- Thermal/infrared
- Ultrasonic
- Radiographic
- Visual testing
- Prepare and document reports on NDE methods, processes, and results.
- Operate and calibrate NDE equipment for material testing.
- Identify and map defects using ultrasonic and other techniques.
- Conduct liquid penetrant tests (apply dyes, clean, apply developer).
- Visually inspect materials and components for corrosion, fatigue, cracks, or flaws.
- Review engineering drawings as needed.
- Support reliability improvements:
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) teams
- Provide input to reduce life cycle costs
- Assist with training and development of team members.
- Travel (~10%, including overnight, domestic, and international).

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Level II non-destructive evaluation/testing technician
- Certifications per SNT-TC-1A in:
- Ultrasonic Testing
- Magnetic Particle Testing
- Liquid Penetrant Testing
- Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDE tasks and interpret inspection results.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Results-oriented, process-driven team leader with exceptional organizational skills.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted.
- Frequent bending, stretching, standing for extended periods, reaching, twisting, sitting, and walking.
- Climbing and working from ladders, stairs, and scaffolds.
- Ability to work in or near industrial hazards.
- Ability and desire to inspect vessel internals via confined space entry.
Preferred
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) status.
- API 510, 570, and/or 653 certification.
